Chilcotins Part III
Theresia from Offenbach is visiting us so we thought we do something special. If you have followed our blog over the summer you have seen already two trip reports to the Chilies (Chilcotins). The Chilies are a wicked area for cross country riding. It is alpine riding. Some people here in Canada compare it to riding in Switzerland, well, those people haven't been in Switzerland I guess but anyway, it is pretty rad. We drove to the Chilies on Thursday night, it is a 6 hour drive from Vancouver. Friday morning we caught a float plane which we chartered for about 500$ (330€), 125$ each. It was a pretty cool trip ...
On the way to the Chilies, we stopped in Whistler for a Burger, looks like Theresia has a good time!
The next morning we put our gear to the dock, the float plane was on the way to pick us up ...
... and here it is. Load it up.
Theresia in a better mood.
Alright, lets go.
Up in the air, that's where we will go riding in the next 4 days.
Spruce Lake, the camp ground is at the end of the lake. Seppel has been here a while ago with Andrew, Victor and a bunch of other guys. Andrew sunk into that mud pit at the beginning of the lake.
Bring that bird down.
Unload it, pretty nice way to gain elevation and set up base camp.
Good Bye for the next 4 days.
That is the nice thing about a float plane trip (not that I would do it all the time): You can bring as much stuff as you want since you don't have to carry it up. At least that's what we thought, you will see what I am talking about on the last day.
We went for a ride.
Theresia shredding some sick gnar.
Andrew in his element, lycra full on.
Kerstin checking out another lake, this was the aim of today.
The weather wasn't amazing on the first day, black clouds are coming.
Seppel rippin it.
