Elephant Sanctuary

On of the main reasons to go to South Africa was to see Elephants. We hadn't been in Johannesburg for half an hour and Nina and Albert together with Sinta and Erich (Nina's parents) took us to an Elephant Sanctuary, amazing!

After landing (we flew 10 hours), we had a quick lunch at Nina's place together with Erich who was visiting Nina at the same time.

Here we go: Jumbo No. 1!

Feeding time, as always, I am afraid of big animals.

Kerstin is happy, pretty big those boys (or girls).

We could even touch them.

The skin was totally different from on place to another, behind the ear it was really soft.

Who is the cutest? I would go for the middle one.

Sinta and Erich.

Albert and I am checking out the tail.

They also got pretty big teeth, well, they eat a lot (I think about 300 kg a day).

Who is the strongest one here, well, doesn't take long to figure that out!

What happens now? Calling home or what?

a

An elephant kiss.

Looks like it was nice.

Some good african soil mixed with elephant nose moisture, great. I heard rumours Kerstin wasn't washing here face for the next 5 days since she fell in love with the boy.

After petting it was time to go out, Nina and her big buddy.

a

Watch out, don't step on her feet.

Cute, Kerstin thought about walking home with him.
